My love for Pilates started 15 years ago as a way of managing low back pain. My career as an Optometrist had left me with neck stiffness, recurrent back pain and poor posture.

About Gillian.

After 30 years of Optometry I decided to change careers and train as a Body Control Pilates Teacher. As my knowledge has grown so has my passion and belief in the Pilates Method.

 

Pilates gave me back control of my body, helped me manage my back pain, giving me the freedom to work, move and live pain free.

 

 

 

Pilates with Gillian offers matwork classes for 1:1's, 1:2's or small groups
(maximum 9). Smaller class sizes ensure clients receive the close supervision
and support required to achieve their personal goals.

 

  • Pilates is for everyone, from first time exercisers to elite athletes.

  • Its slow, controlled approach gives much longer term results.

  • Pilates will connect the mind and body and is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.

  • The Pilates method will help reshape your body to become longer, leaner and more toned.

  • It will also improve your posture achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility.

I truly believe that Pilates has helped me manage my way through Menopause and was the inspiration for creating this comprehensive online course which can ease some of the symptoms and effects of the Menopause. Pilates for Menopause sessions; Include weight bearing and balance exercises to help maintain bone density, muscle mass and strength.
 Work the 'glutes' to help alleviate back pain and improve posture.
 Combat that 'stubborn belly fat" with targeted abdominal exercises.
 Connect the mind and the body, marrying breath with the movement to help ease low mood and anxiety.

Welcome to my home studio and air conditioned glass roofed area, incorporating 3 separate areas; gym for private 1-1 and 2-1 sessions : glass roofed area for small groups (6max) : garden studio for groups (9max) all accessed from a separate side entrance at 4 Victoria Drive, Troon.

    Pilates is a mental and physical body conditioning programme that uses exercise to change the way we move our bodies. It is named after Joseph H Pilates (1883-1967), a German born fitness guru, who emigrated to New York in the 1920's and set up a fitness studio teaching a method he called `Contrology', only becoming known as Pilates after his death.

    Classes last one hour.

    Class sizes are limited to 5 in my Pilates studio or 7 in my larger glass roofed studio.

    Small class sizes provide a more personal experience.
